Eva Hakansson with KillaJoule, super fast electric streamliner motorcycle
Christchurch will host a festival of revolutionary travel next month, with a plethora of the latest electric vehicles on display at EVolocity.
As the organisers of EVolocity say, “petrol is SO last century!”
What once would have sounded like an oxymoron, the environmental motor sport event will take place at Ruapuna in Christchurch on November 30.
As well as displaying some of the latest electric vehicles on the market, the festival will also aim to get New Zealanders involved in the future of transport by showcasing their innovative electric vehicle inventions.
EVolocity will feature the “fastest woman on a motor cycle” in action. Eva Hakansson is the driver and builder of the ‘KillaJoule’, a record breaking electric motorcycle. Hakansson hopes to reach a record of 402.33km/h on the KillaJoule, although we haven’t heard that she’s aiming to do it at EVolocity.
The world’s fastest electric drag motor bike, the ‘Killacycle’ will also be part of EVolocity. The Killacycle can reach 0 to 100km/h in one second.
A Tesla versus Ferrari drag race is sure to be one of the highlights of the festival, as will other combustion challenging electric vehicle races.
Also on view will be the all new Tesla S. The display will be the first time South Island has had a chance to view the game changing vehicle on home soil.
A chance to showcase the innovations of New Zealand’s budding inventors will also be part of the festival. The ‘Dragon’s Den’ will look for next generation innovations from Kiwis, such as smart transport, smart home, smart grid integration and niche vehicle prototypes, that can be taken to global markets.
EVolocity will be held on November 30 at Mike Pero Motorsport Park in Ruapuna, Christchurch.
